HOW TECH ARE YOU?
1. Introducing myself.
My name is Huda, and that's it. I once complained to my mom why my name is not like others. her ansswer is simple. Because you are short. ==' I kind agreed to it and when I was in standard 1, I was more than grateful my name is shorter than others (easier to spell, easier to write)
Hometown : I was originally from Baling, Kedah and oonly 1 out of 10 people would know where on earth is Baling. It is a small, but exotic (at least for us people) place with more greens and less people, which nominated us as the #1 most peaceful country in Malaysia.
Things I love to do : Socializing. Basically mingle with almost everyone I met. sometimes I love arts, and very rarely I do read.
2. How would you rate yourself in terms of your computer skills? (e.g. expert, novice, savvy, geek, illiterate etc)
Savvy, when it comes to hardware. I took ICT class when I was in highschool. However, I kinda erased all the tech-memories after highschool ends.
3. What computer software and hardware knowledge do you have?
software : the programmes inside the CPU (or computer) in which - sort of the engines moving all the task you have instructed it to do. Its something we cant touch, basically created by the tech-people and inserted into the pc. (oh and it uses codes) for example, windows, mac os, etc..
4. How do you think technology can assist learners learn a 2nd or a foreign language? (Do not Google the answer)
I think, we can see from our sorrounding, the exampes would be kids learning English through songs in Youtube (eg: baby shark doo doo), or picking up words from cartoon. Plus, even in school now, we are allowed to use electronic dictionary in foreign language classes. Technology connected us with languages/knowledge from around the world, and just by using internet, we could ind and learn anything we'd love to.
5. Have you experienced learning via the computer (online courses, using courseware, websites etc)?
Yes! We had few courses in which we have to answer questions/quizzes online. Plus, I used internet all the time to learn anything regarding English (from Youtube etc)
6. Did you try to incorporate technology in some of your lessons during your practicum? Was it a success or a failure? If you did not, what was/were the reason(s)?
Yes! I believe that learning using book alone would be boring, Hence, using technology such as computer, videos, and LCD helps me to attract students' attention. It was a succcess. My students actually love the videos and it wasnt a surprise, since they were born in the world of technology.
7. What is your opinion/prediction/perception on the use of technology in language teaching and learning?
I think it is a great approach. I still remember when I was in primary school (back then it was not so easy to bring all those equipment into class) and my teacher showed us a video in almost every class. We were so excite whenever it was her lesson. nowadays, i think it is more challenging to get student to focus on us. therefore, we need to have different approach to get their attention and I think technology is the best aid.
8 What do you hope to learn/gain from this course?
I hope I will get better understanding of technology -learning and implying it, for the best in the future. who knows, I might use the knowledge I learn today in my lesson later.
9. What is the topic chosen for your Academic Exercise? Why have you chosen the topic? Who is your supervisor? How do you plan to complete your AE so that it follows the designated processes (chapter by chapter) and can be submitted on time?
I have chosen the topic 'Challenges faced by English teachers in Rural area'. My supervisor is : Dr Datin Nazeera. I am planning to start early (as I was quite detailed) and I think by constantly meeting my supervisor, I would be able to submit my work on time. (well, making sure that she has her eyes on me would surely make me complete my task).

hardware : All the concrete things we can touch and feel and see, functioning as the medium/tools for us to instruct the sotware. for example, pc, keyboard, mouse,printer, hardisk, etc..
